Richard and Helen in Greenwich Village.
Helen: “When I lived in Brooklyn I biked everywhere. Then I moved to Manhattan and I feel it’s too dangerous here.”
Richard: “I’ve been riding my bike everywhere for years. You have to watch out for the taxi drivers. What really annoys them is when I ride in the snow!”
When he learned my name, Richard told me that he has noticed a big wave of Russian arrivals in his neighborhood.
Richard: “Just on my block, there’s now a Russian barber and a Russian baker…”
Me: “Too many Russians?”
Richard: “Well, I got a great haircut and I really liked the strudel, so, no.”
