BikeNYC Portrait: Jess

Jess Versus, professional tattoo artist, woman of many talents and interests, avid cyclist and fellow Greenpoint resident. Not to mention a trooper for braving the 15° wind chill to do this shoot. I told her she could back out and wait for a warmer day, but she wouldn’t hear of it. “I’m of tough New England stock!” she assured me. And with that, the Russian-born photographer had no excuse.

Like me, Jess rode a 10-speed beater around for awhile, before picking her new love – this Gran Royale Lurker.  I love the way the grayish wintry afternoon light makes the unique color of the bike really pop.

No shortage of graffiti backgrounds in Williamsburg!

Her coat? I told you it was windy!

Great to meet you, Jess.
