BikeNYC Portrait: John

John Watson, a.k.a. @JohnProlly. If you follow New York cycling online, you’ve likely come across his site, Prolly is not Probably. He’s a prolific bike/culture blogger, a fellow Greenpointer, and, it turns out, a great guy. We met up for a portrait on the waterfront at the end of Huron St. We talked bikes, the neighborhood, and photography, and shot a couple of portraits as his gloveless hands slowly froze in the November wind. He has different bikes for different purposes, but that day he brought this Eddy Merckx – his favorite bike. After we finished on the water, I asked him if he wouldn’t mind trying just one more location. He indulged me, and so we rode over to the nearby abandoned Harte & Company factory building which I’d been meaning to shoot. And that’s the shot you see above – my favorite from the afternoon. Love the smirk, too.  Click through to see the other photos.
