BikeNYC Portraits: Jacquelyn and Ed

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Jacquelyn and Ed bright and early Monday morning in  Greenpoint’s McGolrick Park*. They’re daily bike commuters; in fact, these portraits were taken minutes before they embarked on their respective rides. After they part ways in the morning, Jacquelyn pedals 11 miles to her office – in heels. Ed works downtown and so has a bit less distance to cover. As it happens, they have more than a casual interest in cycling. Jacquelyn works for Bike New York, the organization that puts on the massive annual event that is the 5 Boro Bike Tour; Ed works at the Department of Transportation. McGolrick Park is beautiful in the fall and almost deserted on a Monday morning. Ed is fond of the winged victory statue in the center of the park, so I shot  their portrait in front of it. I think it was a good choice.

Thanks again J and E. Ride safe.

*Anybody noticing how many Greenpointers are popping up in these pages? I guess this is what happens when your neighborhood is sub-optimally served by public transit.
