Brooklyn Bike Portrait: Steve in Greenpoint

“I do construction, all kinds of work – electrical, sheetrock. I got this bike from my brother 2 years ago. He had all kinds of stuff on it – speakers, stereo. I stripped it down. I’m just riding down from Queens, wanted to see if any of my friends are out. Haven’t seen anyone yet.

I tell people: Age don’t matter. I’m 48 years old. But it’s how you feel. I feel young.”

I asked Steve about the jar of Kool-Aid taped to the rear rack.
“That’s my penny can. I collect pennies in there, then bring them over to the church.”
