This Saturday marked the start of Summer Streets – an annual even taking place on three Saturdays every August. The city closes down a length of street from the Brooklyn Bridge all the way up to 72nd street. It’s a rare chance to experience a car-free Manhattan – miles of nearly uninterrupted riding, mostly along Park Ave. I saw countless people with big “can you believe this?” grins on their faces. I took a few photos while riding, nothing too formal. Most of these were taken while riding – I didn’t want to stop! Click through for a slideshow.
