A Fancy Ride, A Broken Lens, a Good Time

The tireless Kim Burgas has been organizing a series of “Get Fancy!” rides, which combine biking, dressing up, gallery openings, and drinking. In other words, a fine time in New York City! Unfortunately she’s had terrible luck with weather, having to postpone previous rides several times. I came along to this past Thursday’s ride, which Kim organized with Nona Varnado. Once again weather was a factor: A forecast calling for downpours kept many RSVPers away. So the ride started out with just Kim, Dorothy, and me; we met up with Nona a bit later.

Speaking of bad luck, this was right around the time that an internal element in my brand new 35mm f1.4 lens decided to come loose and rattle around like a paint can. Amazingly, the lens still worked, but a lot of the photos look like they were taken with a lensbaby. You’ve been warned.

Kim encouraged the bringing of props/accessories. Can you spot Kim’s accessory?

On to the High Line
And ice cream! The lens is really giving up the ghost here.
All in all a great time. Looking forward to the next one (and to getting my lens back from Canon!).
