Prospect Park West Bike Lane: 1:30-2pm

I rode out to the Prospect Park West bike lane today to snap some photos. These were taken within a 30 minute period early this afternoon. As with yesterday, the bike lane was bustling with cyclists of all kinds. Especially good to see many parents and kids out riding.

  • Eric McClure - Dmitry, this is brilliant! Defense exhibit 1 in NBBL vs. The People.

  • Olga - Of course its nice to have bike lanes and be able to go out and have fun with your kids. But it is New York, the most congested place on Earth. You cant drive as it is. Dont you people have parks and boardwalks to ride bikes? leave roads to drivers and stop wasting our money

  • Dmitry - Olga, thanks for your comment. You said it yourself – New York is super congested and not great for driving. And as the population grows, it’s only going to get more so. This is why building a real bike lane network will be a win for New Yorkers – drivers included. More people will be able to choose a bike for transportation (not just “having fun with your kids” as you dismissively put it), freeing up road space for those who choose to drive or have no other choice but to drive.

  • wkgreen - I think that I just missed you. I was there mornings and early afternoons on Sat. and again on Sun. biking my kids to soccer games. Who says that these lanes are not used? FYI Olga- that’s the only safe way to get to the park. Great shots!
