BikeNYC Portrait: Don

This is Don and his Yamaguchi. Don’s a friend of Angelo, whom I photographed back in November. A few of us were were riding  past the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and I remembered that I’ve been meaning to do a portrait in front of the Steiner Studios sign. I asked Don to do “the pose” while I grabbed my camera.  It only took a few seconds for the security guard to come out of his booth and take his place in my photograph:

He told us we had to leave what I’m pretty sure is a public street. In other words, we had every right to be and shoot there. I didn’t really feel like pressing the issue, but since he wasn’t acting too aggressive, I told him (nicely) “you’re kind of in my shot”. To my surprise, he actually moved out of the frame long enough for me to do my thing. It was all done in a big hurry, but we got a decent result.

Angelo captured the scene. Thanks man! I don’t have that many photos of me shooting, and this one makes me smile.
