Tough Mudder NorCal 2011 Photos. Tough Mudder NorCal 2011 at Squaw Valley Ski Resort was the biggest Tough Mudder event to date. Around 10,000 participants ran on Saturday and around 7,000 on Sunday. In addition to the 20+ obstacles, participants (and photographers) had to contend with an almost 3,000 foot change in elevation, as the course made full use of the absolutely stunning mountain landscape.
The event was really livened up by the presence of dozens of US Marines, who helped man (and woman) several obstacles, and really kept things going along with their unique brand of encouragement. Click through to see some of my favorite photos from this event.

Meryl - Those are amazing pictures. I saw some of them on TM site, were you contracting for them?
We attended the 2011 NorCal, which was an awesome experience. Unfortunately, I got injured few weeks before the race… But I was there to support my team. They had an amazing time, the only issues were the long wait at the obstacles and the lack of food. One of them was so hungry, he grabbed a banana in a trash can!
I am looking forward doing it in 2012!
