Maggi recently finished building a new bike and wanted to commemorate the\u00a0occasion. A fan of my bicycle portraits, she commissioned me for some photos while her bike is still shiny and pristine. The ride is a custom\u00a0Squarebuilt<\/a>\u00a0frame with components sourced through a\u00a0collaborative build process<\/a> with 718 Cyclery<\/a>\u00a0– a process she says taught her a great deal about frame components and bike geometry. And it’s a beauty.<\/p>\n

Maggi works for an art auction website. Her boyfriend Alex, who came to the shoot with his Soma<\/a>\u00a0bike, is a paramedic. They both ride their bikes to work. We did the shoot right outside their apartment, on a beautiful brownstone block in Bed-Stuy.<\/p>\n
