So it was only today that I heard that\u00a0<a href=\"krystinblakemore.com\" target=\"_blank\">Krys Blakemore<\/a>, artist, bike mechanic, and\u00a0<a title=\"New York Bike Portrait: Krys and the Eighth Inch Scrambler\" href=\"http:\/\/gudphoto.com\/bikenyc\/2011\/04\/05\/new-york-bike-portrait-krys-and-the-eighth-inch-scrambler\/\">one of my favorite bike portrait subjects<\/a>, was hit by a car while riding her bike on Atlantic Ave on March 15. She suffered multiple injuries, including a leg broken in 2 places, requiring major surgery. She&#8217;s on her way to recovery but for the moment she&#8217;s unable to walk, work, or ride her bike. Joe Nocella, owner of <a href=\"http:\/\/718c.com\" target=\"_blank\">718 Cyclery<\/a> where Krys works, has set up a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/i0zqc\" target=\"_blank\">fund<\/a>\u00a0where we can all contribute to her recovery.<\/p>\n<p>This is a stark reminder of how vulnerable we all are riding on these city streets.
