The tireless Kim Burgas<\/a> has been organizing a series of “Get Fancy!” rides, which combine biking, dressing up, gallery openings, and drinking. In other words, a fine time in New York City! Unfortunately she’s had terrible luck with weather, having to postpone previous rides several times. I came along to this past Thursday’s ride<\/a>, which Kim organized with Nona Varnado<\/a>. Once again weather was a factor: A forecast calling for downpours kept many RSVPers away. So the ride started out with just Kim, Dorothy, and me; we met up with Nona a bit later.<\/p>\n

Speaking of bad luck, this was right around the time that an internal element in my brand new 35mm f1.4 lens decided to come loose and rattle around like a paint can. Amazingly, the lens still worked, but a lot of the photos look like they were taken with a lensbaby. You’ve been warned.<\/p>\n

And ice cream! The lens is really giving up the ghost here.<\/div>\n

All in all a great time. Looking forward to the next one (and to getting my lens back from Canon!).<\/div>\n
